U.S. Postal Inspectors Warn Customers to Avoid Scams that Use Artificial Intelligence

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service warns that scammers are using artificial intelligence to make traditional fraud tactics more convincing. The agency emphasizes that AI can create more realistic messages, voices, and impersonations to deceive USPS customers.

During National Consumer Protection Week (March 1-7, 2026), authorities will share prevention tips via their website, social media, radio ads, and print ads in airports across DC, Hollywood (FL), and New York City metro areas.

The campaign aims to help consumers recognize AI-enhanced scams and protect themselves by staying vigilant and verifying information before responding to suspicious requests or offers.
