Supreme Court restores New York Republican’s congressional district

The Supreme Court blocked a state judge from redrawing New York’s 11th congressional district, ruling to restore the existing lines that connect Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn.

The emergency ruling favors Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, a Republican whose district would have been altered by the state court-ordered redrawing. The decision effectively reinstates the prior district boundaries for the foreseeable future.
