Benavidez chosen to fill Senate District 21 vacancy after Michaelson Jenet resigns

Adrienne Benavidez was chosen by a Democratic vacancy committee to fill Senate District 21 following Dafna Michaelson Jenet’s resignation. Benavidez previously served three terms in the Colorado House of Representatives and rose to a leadership position there.

She will assume the seat vacated when Michaelson Jenet left to direct the David and Laura Merage Foundation for Combating Antisemitism. The selection aims to maintain party balance and continuity for the district.

Benavidez’s appointment marks a shift from the House to the Senate, bringing experience in public policy and legislative leadership to the district’s representation.
